Nautilus Hyosung has announced its rollout of "a new generation self-service digital kiosk" at Shinhan Bank, the largest bank in South Korea with assets KRW 338 trillion ($308 billion).

In December, the DK was deployed in the corner of the self-service zone in a tellerless Shinhan branch, a press release said. Customers can use the machine to conduct quick and easy self-service, including new account opening, debit card issuance, bank statement printing, and other functions.

According to the release, the device is designed to process 107 banking tasks that comprise 90 percent of teller window transactions.

With the DK installation, Shinhan becomes the first bank in South Korean to employ palm vein biometric authentication of customers at the ATM.

Further, the DK solution includes video teller technology that allows the FI to serve customers after normal banking hours, providing advanced services such as financial consultation, account opening, card issuance, complex transactions, and more.

The new DK solution has allowed Shinhan bank to shift its staff at the branch from carrying out lower-end teller tasks to delivering high-value services to customers.

To date, DK devices have been installed in 17 Shinhan bank stores.
